Plumas Lake Network

A Place for Friends, Family and Neighbors of Plumas Lake to Connect Online

With the overwhelming number of social networking sites, meet up groups and other organizations, it becomes difficult to find useful information and resources without being overloaded. I have searched the web and researched several groups and organizations throughout Northern California. I have also researched national organizations to see if there was one that met all of the needs of the community(ies) it served.

During my efforts to learn more about the online chaos I decided to find out what the people really want and need. What resources you would like to have available to you, your family and your friends without the hassle of searching multiple online sites and local ads.

Hi and thanks for the post. I too have spent time (the last 15 years to be exact) in the online advertising/social media space and there certainly is a lot of different channels and avenues that users can navigate independently for different needs. Using Plumas Lake as an example we have Plumas Lake Life which has always been a place where I go to get information on what is going on in the community, this site, Plumas Lake Network, while still in it's infancy will grow to become a place where members of the Plumas Lake community come to connect and share with one another. I am not talking about an informal string of forum posts, I am talking about connecting through media such as photos, video, chat and discussions around group interests and collaboration. The site will continue to grow in it's feature set and membership and while it is impossible to replace a Facebook and Myspace, I hope Plumas Lake residents will find this site to be a much more personal and intimate platform in which to connect with fellow friends and neighbors here.

I will also not that this site was and will never be a site that is blatantly plastered with advertising messages that take away from the overall experience but at the end of the day, I gotta pay the light bill and while some businesses will exploit ways to turn this social network into their own personal advertising forum, I will not (for now) punish them for joining and experimenting with the tools the site has to offer them.

Thanks for joining and I appreciate you posting this discussion, it is one that I could speak a lot to and I am glad to see that people like yourself are thinking about it.
